FAQS

We get a tone of questions here at AST! We love this because it means you are becoming aware of all the needs in our community and want to jump in!

Here are some of the most frequently asked, but if you don’t get the answer you need, please feel free to ask us directly!

WHERE DOES MY DONATION GO?

Your donation goes directly towards helping a child in foster care. We partner with local foster agencies, youth shelters, and CPS offices to stay up to date on items that are needed in the foster community. After we’ve identified the need of the foster community we provide your donation to those kiddos. Your generous monetary donations will be put out towards purchasing items that foster youth are in need of. All Clothes/Toys/Food donations are provided to local agencies to provide to foster kids and underprivileged youth.

HOW DO YOUR PROGRAMS WORK?

A Step Together facilitates service-learning activities in Bell County. When a donor in your area chooses to sponsor one of our programs, we find a local agency that works with foster youth to receive the donation. The agency will then distribute the items to foster families. That's it! Our program donations are typically sponsored in large numbers which is why we partner with agencies and county offices directly, rather than individual families.

WHAT IS THE RESOURCE CENTER

Our resource center is available to children entering foster care, foster families, and underprivileged youth to help them meet the critical needs of abused and neglected children. Stocked with new and gently used items, the Resource Center provides clothing, shoes, underwear, baby formula, school supplies, and hygiene items to children entering care and children in their own homes who live below the poverty line.
